Sculpture class

I have a rather difficult year 9 class at the moment. They contain an unusual - for my school anyway - mix of chatterers, fidgeters and red herring merchants. Instead of the usual 10 minute intro we were into a twenty minute stand-off with gaps and telling offs etc.

We are doing a sculpture project - using Henry Moore's Helmet sculptures as inspiration , the kids are making wire and plaster/mod-roc pieces. We started the project with drawings from animal sculls borrowed from Biology dept. and also their own research into masks, hats and helmets, alien heads (eg the Borg)

A lesson drawing and making card maquettes followed by beginning the making process. AND despite the hassle they have been their achievements have been really good. It's just hardwork!
