Shifting images

After a great weekend in the garden shifting turf and finishing a trellis screen in fabulous sun it was back to school.

I have gone for the identity project with my year 9 graphics set. They made three drawings in the lesson from observation of their faces. Each drawing took a different approach. I did try the feeling the faces bit but only remembered half way through. I probably should have started with it. However, describing drawing as being like a cartographer mapping the hills, valleys and lakes of the surface of their face seemed to have been undestood by a few.

I showed them work by El Lissitsky, E McKnight Kaufer, Joe Magee

Today it was my other year 9 group, where I am doing a basic ceramics course. We develop work from natural forms into ceramic vessels. More another day.
